Exceptional Equestrians Board of Directors
Dr. Elizabeth Moberg-Wolff (Chairperson of the Board)
Elizabeth Moberg-Wolff is a triple boarded Pediatric PM&R physician, who sees children and adults with developmental disabilities such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida, stroke, and head injury, with clinics in Green Bay and Milwaukee. She has an academic affiliation with UW Madison School of Public Health and was previously an associate professor at Medical College of Wisconsin. She is on staff at Children’s Wisconsin, Aurora and AMC and is involved in advocacy for those with special needs. The value of hippotherapy and equine assisted therapy for her patients is one of the reasons she joined the board. Dr. Moberg-Wolff has served as President for the last 3 years. The professionalism and growth of programming, as well as the creative fundraisers, are reasons she loves working with EE.
Alyssa Gromowski (Vice Chair of the Board)
As a librarian in the Brown County Library system, Alyssa uses a lens of Trauma-Informed care to meet people where they are at and connect our community to the resources they need. When not at the library, Alyssa enjoys horseback riding, volunteering in the Hippotherapy program, and running Arcane Muse, a painting studio out of De Pere. Alyssa and her husband are currently expecting their first child- a future EE volunteer for sure!
Matt Flanagan (secretary)
Matt Flanagan is a Sr. Manager at American Family Insurance, leading an operations training team. He has worked in the insurance industry and with American Family for 17 years. Matt, his wife, and 3 young kids recently moved to Suamico following 10 years of living in the Madison area.
Matt was nominated to and participated in the Leadership Green Bay Class of 2022, where he assisted in developing and planning Exceptional Equestrians inaugural Horses for Healing event. Through that event, Matt developed an interest and passion in the great work that Exceptional Equestrians provides to the families and individuals it serves. He is excited to be a part of the future growth of Exceptional Equestrians and the positive impact this organization will continue to have in the communities it serves.
Jenna Dais
Jenna grew up with horses and currently owns her own equine facility. She previously worked in Marketing & Advertising for Promotional Agencies and ended up in Recruiting & Resource Management for a Consulting Firm in Chicago, IL before moving back to Green Bay, her hometown, for her husband’s job. Since then, she has been involved in equine-assisted therapy, and co-founded Taking the Lead ELC, which started at her family farm.
She has a degree in Communications and is currently pursuing additional education and certification related to Equine Therapy. She also strives to continue learning about horses through ongoing equine clinics and workshops.
When asked what she finds most rewarding about her experiences at Exceptional Equestrians, she says, “It’s such a happy place. I love seeing the smiling faces around me… seeing our clients having fun on horses, while getting the benefits of therapy! And working with the best, most dedicated group of volunteers and staff. And of course, working with the amazing therapy horses there too. It’s the best group of coworkers imaginable.”
Heather Gartzke
Heather Gartzke has worked in healthcare administration and operations for over 12 years. With a Master’s of Healthcare Administration, an undergraduate degree in Finance, and a few years of nursing experience, Heather currently serves as Managing Vice President of Operations for 50 outpatient clinics across various states in the Midwest and Northeast. Heather and her family recently moved back home to Wisconsin from Scottsdale, Arizona to be with extended family and shortly thereafter learned of Exceptional Equestrians and its inspiring mission. Helping to improve the health and quality of life of those who need it is what drives her.
Laina Stuebner
Laina Stuebner is an attorney with the law firm of Conway, Olejniczak & Jerry, S.C. in Green Bay, where she practices general civil litigation. Even though Laina only arrived in Green Bay in 2020, spending nearly every childhood summer living with her grandparents in Door County left her with a deep connection to Northeast Wisconsin, and she is proud to finally call this amazing community her true “home.” Laina was first connected to EE through Leadership Green Bay, where her small group partnered with EE to help develop and run the first Horses for Healing event in 2022. Laina was immediately struck by EE’s incredible mission and the people pursuing it and is extremely excited to continue her involvement with EE and the Horses for Healing event for years to come. Laina lives in downtown Green Bay with her boyfriend and two cats
Amy Kox
Amy Kox is the Dean for Trades and Engineering Technologies at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College. Amy has been with NWTC for the past 20 years in various roles at the college.
You can see her side walking at Exceptional Equestrians most Thursday afternoons. Volunteering at EE is such a rewarding experience as you can see the difference this therapy makes for the clients and their families.
Amy lives in Green Bay with her husband Karl, has two adult children and one very cute bulldog. She is excited to be part of the board and looks forward to supporting the mission and growth of Exceptional Equestrians.
Max Rango
Max Rango has been a Commercial Project Manager for the last 8 years at Immel Construction in the Green Bay area. Over his career, he has managed projects for non-profit organizations in De Pere and the surrounding municipalities, knowing that those types of projects truly make a positive impact on improving each of those communities.
Max has been a resident of the De Pere community for 5 years now and enjoys golfing, volleyball, traveling, and attending Packer games.
The Exceptional Equestrian mission hits home for Max as he knows how beneficial an organization like this is to the individuals that participate in these programs as he has seen first-hand how similar organizations have benefited his disabled brother. Max is ready to jump in and contribute to the growth of the EE mission.
Erica Stevens
I have 3 passions in my life: my family, horses and being a registered nurse. I, and my husband are raising 3 active and wonderful children. For more than ten years I have been privileged to be a farrier at Exceptional Equestrians. Finally, I am proud to be a registered nurse at St. Mary’s hospital. My familiarity and comfort working with horses is due to owning, training, and showing horses for the majority of my life. I am a graduate of Kentucky Horseshoeing school. I completed an apprenticeship with Chester County Farrier Associates located in Unionville, Pennsylvania. I am passionate about the health of wellbeing of both people and animals. I am fortunate to be able to live my passion every day. I am honored to know that what I do daily has the potential to make a positive difference in another life whether person and animal.
